Chicago police are investigating an apparent crash and grab at a gas station and another at a laundromat in Avondale.

One incident occurred at a BP Amoco in the 3200-block of West Addison Street.

A worker at the BP said that no one was hurt when thieves literally slammed an SUV into the building to steal the gas station's ATM.

Police said a Jeep driven by an unknown suspect slammed into the building of this BP Amoco. leaving a large gaping hole. That's when it's believed thieves ripped off the ATM inside before abandoning the Jeep they used to gain entry into the building and getting away.

There was another crash and grab about a mile away at a laundromat. Police have not yet linked the two crimes.

Police said an SUV plowed into the Soap Box Laundry at about 2:05 a.m. in the 3200-block of North Pulaski Road.

Police said the thieves tried to steal an ATM, but couldn't remove it. The suspects took off in another vehicle and are not in custody.
