AUSTIN (KXAN) — The sky is blue, grass is green and Central Texas is looking at another August day above 100 degrees.
Mainly sunny, hot and muggy today with afternoon highs returning to the low 100s in most areas and heat index values running about 2-4° above air temperatures. Although we don't have any air quality alerts in place, we're less-than-perfect with remnant wildfire smoke, Saharan dust and city pollution lingering in our sky.
Wednesday afternoon forecast high temperatures
The triple-digit heat rolls on with afternoon highs hovering at 104-105° in Austin late week into the start of next week. This'll mark our hottest stretch of the year so far. Rising humidity will bring heat index values up to 105-110°, likely prompting heat alerts laer this week.
At this time, there is no opportunity for rain in the 7-day forecast.
