OSHKOSH – Two women are accused of trying to bring drugs into Oshkosh Correctional Institution, police said.
The Oshkosh Police Department said in a Facebook post Friday that its Vice and Narcotics Unit opened two separate investigations after receiving information about contraband being introduced at the prison, 1730 W. Snell Road.
In the first case, investigators contacted a 42-year-old Cleveland, Ohio, woman about 1:30 p.m. June 28 as she attempted to visit an inmate, police said.

Investigators found two small clear plastic bags concealed on her person that contained tobacco and multiple oxycodone hydrochloride pills, police said.
The woman was referred to the Winnebago County District Attorney's Office on a possible charge of delivering articles to an inmate. The 35-year-old inmate she intended to visit also was referred on a possible charge of party to the crime of delivering articles to an inmate, police said.
In the second case, investigators contacted a 58-year-old Sturtevant woman about 11:20 a.m. Aug. 18 as she attempted to visit an inmate, police said.

Police said the woman was taken to a local hospital, where two balloons containing multiple Suboxone sublingual strips were recovered from her person.
She was arrested and booked into the Winnebago County Jail on a possible charge of delivering articles to an inmate, police said. The 30-year-old inmate she intended to visit will be referred to prosecutors on a possible charge of party to the crime of delivering articles to an inmate.
Police did not release the names of any of those involved.
Police said the investigations are part of an ongoing partnership with Oshkosh Correctional Institution to prevent illegal drugs and other contraband from entering the prison.
