WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) -- A local foundation hosted the first Ferndale Avenue Resiliency Block Celebration in Warren Saturday.
The event featured classic cars and motorbikes as well as local food truck vendors, live music, contests, and raffles.
Organizers of the event say Saturday's celebration also pays homage to those who stayed in Warren through challenging times in the Valley's history.
"There's a lot of ups and downs that happen in life. Sure, we all remember Black Monday, these episodes of life-changing events that affect families. We feel as if anyone who is still, still, still here with a smile on their face, able to share their story in celebration, and go ahead and march forward with the small things in life. They're a part of us," organizer Sher-ree Glover said.
Glover says that she's running a neighborhood survey on feedback for next year's celebration, as well as collaborating with city officials for more activities at the celebration.
