Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden is closed Monday, Labor Day, after its parking lot reached capacity, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said.

The closure comes as the Labor Day holiday brought sunny and pleasant weather across Connecticut.

Separately, the swimming area at Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic is also closed Monday after failing water quality testing. The swimming area has been closed since Saturday.

DEEP manages over 140 parks and forests across the state.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
