CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Fall can be quite the beauty in West Virginia, and the State Parks Foundation is looking to highlight that beauty in a new photo contest.
In a release put out Monday, the WV State Parks Foundation announced that its Fall Colors "Mountains Are Always Free" Photo Contest will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8, inviting photographers from around the Mountain State to capture photos of its natural fall beauty.
"As our fall weather approaches and the leaves begin to turn, visitation from both residents and tourists increases significantly. We encourage park guests to enjoy everything these special places have to offer—and to capture those unforgettable moments through photography to share with others," WV State Parks Foundation Executive Director Brad Reed said.
Haunted Holler Fest returns to Elkins
Contest participants will be asked to capture the bold fall colors featured at a West Virginia State Park, State Forest or Rail Trail. There will only be one category for awards: fall color. Winners will receive prizes presented by the West Virginia State Parks system and Foundation.
The contest will run until Nov. 6 and is open to anyone who can point and shoot a camera.
