Daytona Beach Police are investigating two individuals in connection with six missing children who were later found safe, according to a post on the department's social media page.
Police located Joia Jina Shepard and Pervis Deontia Sylvester, along with the children, ages 4 to 13, according to a Sept. 13 social media post at 7:30 a.m.
An alert originally went out on Facebook at 7:34 p.m. Sept. 8, asking the community for help locating Shepard and Sylvester, whom police believed were traveling with the children, ages 4 to 13, in a silver SUV. The couple did not have legal custody of the children, whom police said they believed were in danger, according to the post.
The investigation is ongoing, and it is unclear how police located the couple or whether they will be charged.
This is a developing story and will be updated as information is released.
