A head-on crash involving a drunken driver left one man dead and a toddler hospitalized Saturday, New Braunfels police said.
The crash between a pickup truck and a sedan happened around 7 p.m. in the 2500 block of FM 725, on the South Side of New Braunfels.
When first responders arrived at the scene, the driver of the sedan, a 27-year-old man from New Braunfels, was dead, according to a statement from New Braunfels police. A 3-year-old passenger in the sedan sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to University Hospital in San Antonio.

He was taken to the Guadalupe County Jail and charged with intoxication manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the crash.
A passenger in the truck, 23-year-old Alejandro Aguillen Acosta, fled the crash on foot to a nearby neighborhood, where officers "were able to quickly locate" him hiding in a garage, police said.
He was placed in custody and taken to a local hospital "as a precaution due to the traffic collision," police said. He was taken to the Guadalupe County Jail and charged with evading arrest or detention and criminal trespass of a habitation.
Both men are from Mexico, police said.
